Muslims around the world are preparing themselves to celebrate their upcoming guest. A month of fasting. A month of barakah. A month of Ramadhan. A gift from Allah to all His servant. It has been a good practice also that they are making all sort of preparations ; be it physically, mentally or spiritually.
Here in Egypt I can see lanterns or what they call here as 'fanoos' are glowing brightly in the dim light of night. Hung along the streets in the middle of well arranged building. People are selling dates, qamaruddin (a cincau like type of drink usually famous only in Ramadhan), for the iftor. Tents are built for the kindhearted rich men to make 'Maidatur Rahman' for the poors.
Some are placing target to achieve certain hasanats during Ramadhan. To keep themselves in state of enthusiasm along the Ramdhan as if they said this Ramadhan maybe the last for them. As the next Ramadhan which will come in a space of 12 months is uncertain.
I try to look it in a slight different angle. Could we make it to the upcoming Ramadhan? Yes, the next Ramadhan which will come in 4 or 5 days more. That's also uncertain. My friend's father passed away last week, the father of our MARA's officer here passed away a couple of days ago. Ust Asri Rabbani also passed away days before Ramadhan last year. May Allah bless their soul.
For me, why not we start 'Ramadhan' from now on ...?
Allahumma ballighna Ramadhan, allahumma ameen!
